Your Art
I "found" you on Twitter this morning, and just wanted to say I was incredibly moved by your talent and your message.
If you don't mind I'm going to put your link in the Be Your Own Coach section of my website; the one that I'm developing for people who can't afford life coaching. I want them to be inspired and lifted up and if they can't afford me, well they can make tracks to help themselves.
I'd like to include your link, not only because your artwork is breathtakingly beautiful, but your story is one a lot of women can relate to.
Now when I stop giving away coaching for free :), and earn a few dollars, I'll be back and place an order. I promise.
I was especially taken with the 70 year old woman card. I'm only 52 (look 42 in my skinny jeans :)but I could relate to that woman in the painting. Not because of the age mirror thing, because I still love my mirror, but because of the "truly living" thing.
Well done Melanie for your contribution to the world, and thank you for touching my life.
namaste,
Linda

AWESOME STUFF!! You were always good at what you did... but how the years have treated you! The colors and subjects are bright and vibrant. Your soul shows through the paint and if anyone knows you, your heart is great. Glad to have found you again and congratulations on your success.

Good morning,
I don't usually do this sort of thing but wanted to write and tell you once again how moved I am by your work. I've been to many art shows in my 45 years and I may stop and think to myself "Oh, that's pretty." when passing by a booth or two. But your work captures and brings to life something deep inside me. Thank you for that!
I was at the Sedona show on Sunday. Maybe you remember I asked you about your heritage and we discussed how your work would do well here in South Florida.
Anyway thank you again and be assured I will place an order soon and that I have shared your site with many friends.
Namaste'

I am so excited that I won your wonderful mother and child print.
Thank you so much and I want to keep updated with any future art drawings that you may be doing because I adore your work and would love to have a collection hanging in my home. I do not know if you are famaliar with "The Secret". I used the principles of that teaching philosophy of envisioning that you already have what you want and then basically waiting for the universe to bring it to you. I attached one of your notecards which happened to be the mother and child one to the wall near where I planned on hanging the print once I received it from you. Every time I walked past it I would thank the universe for the painting that was hanging on my wall in a beautiful black or dark wooden frame (had not yet decided how to frame it yet) and envisioned that I already had it, just a matter of time until the end of the month. I want to thank you again for creating such beautiful work. As a fellow artist and Graduate of The University Of Arizona with a Bachelor of Fine art, I truly admire that you create what enspires you and follow your dream. I hope to do the same once my children are a little older and I can finally have the time. I eagerly await my print and look forward to future drawings and hope to be able to see your work at a show again soon.
Thank you
Heather

I have just stumbled across your website, and I am so very glad I did. I am blown away by your artwork. It evokes in me feelings that have recently been awakened by the birth of my baby girl, aurora isabel.
I'm only seeing them online, which I am sure does not do them justice, but I am awestruck at your talent and warm and depth of sentiment that comes across in your work.
This year, 2009, has been my year of 'lettting go' of all anomosity and anger that has been building up in me. I am striving for the very essence of your 'letting go' piece. I know that extinguishing the heavy burden of negativity will make me a better mother- something I am always striving for.
Anyway- the point is I would love to buy 3 copies of your 'letting go piece'- I saw it on a blog, with a poem- ('It' had a hold of her...)I think my 2 sisters would also benefit from having such an amazing piece of art in their lives.

Hi
We met on Sunday at the Sedona Art Festival...I was actually disappointed with the festival but not with yours and this guy from Tucson that does Gourds..you both are great!
After reading about you and I was talking to my hubby and you and I have so much alike...broken relationship, raising four kids alone, alot of stuff in between that we both had or have battle raising kids alone, supporting them and our art. I am the artist that was going to diplay my work at the 1130 at the AZ Center in Phoenix..but never did...Take care and GREAT work. Google my name and you can find my work online..take care, I am sure we will run into eachother again.

Melanie, I saw in your work that you were painting, largely symbolically, the deeper elements of the human experience. As you noticed, that excited me. Keep it up! It's a winning game plan for an artist who want to always be motivated.
About 1990 I began selling my work, and in 1998 I was asked to go to Haiti on a medical mission with some Md's from a hospital. Holding ill and dying children at Mother Teresa's facilities for the dying had a profound effect on me. I didn't want to paint. I wanted to take care of the children.
After returning home I began to paint those children, and it turned into a humanitarian art outreach that gives me much of my sense of purpose. Combining my art with compassion gave me sense of focus that probably will continue until the end of my life. I encourage anyone to do the same.
Have fun! Gary Holland
